so inspired

"promoting peace is based in hope. to overcome ignorance, we need courage, faith and persistence"

I have been a fan of Greg Mortenson since reading Three Cups of Tea and have been looking forward to his forum address for months. He didn't disappoint. It was wonderful to have him come to BYU and share a message with us.

It is easy to get discouraged in our endeavors, especially in international development. But Greg shows through his words and actions that change is possible, if we trust the people we work with enough to empower them.

Let's hear it for Idaho!

Comms 402 hit the road this weekend with a much needed trip to Burley, Idaho. It felt so good to take a break, barely check my e-mail and not have to worry about my mountain of a to-do list. Let's hear it for great friends and small towns. and yay for Ida and crew for housing us.

Highlights of the weekend include the cold and wet Burley High football game, Crazy Daves, the Mexican dress shop, dozens of tours, driving circles around Burley, potatoes, a haunted house in a condemned elementary school and an enlightening set of book reviews. Oh yes, I drove a tractor. It had a gps.

Imagine DI on steroids, combined with the leftovers from every garage sale in Idaho. But better. That's Crazy Dave's Emporium, which is so great an astronaut directed its traffic.
Idaho is windy. Stevo's is good. I'm having a heart attack 3 years earlier thanks to cheese fries and chicken.
This is only the fake version of the knives we saw at Walmart. I love hunting Burley-ites.
Lauren may have bought a "watch" from these girls camped on the corner. The craftsmanship was impecible and the 2 for $10 deal was unbeatable.
They sure know how to do Halloween in Idaho!

My childhood is complete.
Last night, I went to see Toy Story 2 (obviously the best one) in 3D. It was amazing!
I felt like I could reach out and touch Buzz or punch Jessie in the face. And I noticed so many funny things. I don't think I ever stopped smiling.
And bonus, we got some sweet 3D glasses, but we all forgot our cameras to document the fashion statement.

Can't wait til Toy Story 3 in June 2010!

what a weekend

hooray for conference, rain, tights, missionary letters, football, soccer, naps, candy, taking the tram, PR, professor's houses, MoTab, lightning storms and sister missionaries.

I love General Conference. From the moment it came on, I could feel the peace that comes from the Gospel. Our church leaders are so inspired, and they have inspired me to be a better person, reach out to others, and draw closer to my loving Father in Heaven.

Also, shout out to the Tabernacle Choir. I always love them, so I realized just how amazing and powerful they are this weekend. Also, the lavendar looked lovely.

Tonight we had a PRSSA fireside with Brother Corbitt of LDS Public Affairs. Amazing. I love my major so much and its ability to further the work of the church. I am seriously inspired to be the best person I can be, PR or otherwise.
